as we are in the period of the Grace of our Lord Jesus' it does not mean that the law now has no effect. We are not saved by the law, but in being Christians we should keep the law, this in the fullest sense as taught by our Lord Jesus In the period previous to the present one, the people of God had their High Priests, these continued until the ministry of our Lord Jesus Christ. The High Priests at the time of Jesus were a lot to be desired as we fully know. Our dear Lord Jesus the one any only eternal Great High Priest. No longer is it necessary for a High Priest to go into the presence of God in the Holy of Holies, this on behalf ofthe people, but we enter into the presence of our Lord God Almighty through our dear Lord Jesus as The Great High Priest, the old or der came to an end in the first century With the High Priests of old they wore special garments, if one cared to look into the details of this clothing much could be learnt about our God, but may we put this on one side for this writing. With the High Priests of old they had a breastplate, this was positioned close to their hearts. On this plate it would seemwas fixed precious stones, I would suggest that there were twelve, every one representinga tribe of Israel. This teaches that the people of our God were precious' to Him, they were close to His heart'.The precious stones on the breastplate got tarnished and would have beencleaned frequently, this teaching another important lesson which I will dwell on finally We now have our Great High Priest, our dear Lord Je ęsus Christ, it is through Him alone that we enter into the presence our the Lord God Almighty, not by our birth, the will of man or the works of our lives but by the grace of this same Jesus. There is no, no other way at all, there just cannot be one, it is impossible, just dwell on these words by Dr Raymond Brown: I cannot work my soul to save, for that my Lord hath done. But I will work like any slave, for love of His dear Son So we have our dear Lord Jesus as our Great High Priest, He has close to His heart' a breastplate', on this plate are precious stones' and they have been cleansed' and continue to need this treatment The precious stones' are all those folk who have had their sins washed away, cleansed by the precio
us blood, the life giving of our Lord Jesus, we are precious to Him as taught in the Scriptures. These stones' are on our Great High Priest's 'breastplate' and this is positioned close to His heart', need I write any more, yes I will, we are, as we believe, Precious jewels, precious jewels that make up His Kingdom', because we are close to His heart' we are precious to Him But what about the cleaning' of the 'jewels?'As we become Christians in the correct understanding of the word, our sins are completely washed away by the shed blood of our Lord Jesus. Our waywardness is no longer remembered again by our Father God.Our iniquities are separated as far as the east is from the west. Our transgressions are put completely away, behind the back of our Father G Bod and have had The Double' treatment, BUT Every day I, indeed we all need our daily sins forgiven, the things said', done' and thought', the sins which do so easily beset us', need I say any more? The 'precious stones ' of my life and yours need to be cleansed daily, Scripture teaches that As we confess our sins, His is faithful and just to forgive them and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness'.In our salvation we become, New creatures in Christ Jesus', we are right here and now sons' and daughters' of the living God, and such we are We are precious jewels', on the 'breastplate' of our Lord, the Great High Priest, we are close to His heart'.This same Lord Jesus, Endured The Cross, despised its shame, for the joy that was set before Him', I and we need to be cleansed daily from the tarnish of our sins
